Dilation of a blood vessel, as by the action of a nerve or drug.

An increase in the diameter of blood vessels, especially the arteries and arterioles (small arteries), brought about by relaxation of the muscle forming the vessel wall.

An increase in the diameter of blood vessels (usually arterioles) resulting in an increase in blood flow to the area supplied by the vessel. Factors causing vasodilation of blood vessels supplying muscles, include exercise, high external temperatures, stress, and a rise in blood pressure.
