The normal antidiuretic hormone in birds. One of the hormones released by the avian posterior pituitary gland. Called also arginine vasotocin, AVT. Is also active in stimulating uterine contraction.

The normal antidiuretic hormone in birds. One of the hormones released by the avian posterior pituitary gland. Called also arginine vasotocin, AVT. Is also active in stimulating uterine contraction.
Vasotocin is an oligopeptide with properties similar to oxytocin and vasopressin, found in birds, fish, and amphibians. It has been found to have effects on the regulation of REM sleep.
