velocity ratio

(mechanical engineering) The ratio of the velocity given to the effort or input of a machine to the velocity acquired by the load or output.
(oceanography) The ratio of the speed of tidal current at a subordinate station to the speed of the corresponding current at the reference station.

Ratio of the distance moved by the effort to distance moved by the load in a machine.
