Review
Cuban-born Odalys turned into Latin pop music after becoming a popular TV host for the Spanish-language network Univision with the release of her debut album, Ven A Ver, produced by Abraham Quintanilla. This 12-track record opens with a well-arranged "Ven A Ver." However, the enthusiastic starting point goes nowhere on the other songs -- "Ya No Juegues Mas con Mi Corazón," "Para Que Tu Vuelvas a Mi," and "No" -- simply because Odalys' vocals don't follow. Even the club/dance remixes of "Globo Sin Gas," and "Qué Fácil," become a failed attempt in their way to establish themselves as dancefloor anthems. The pop ballad "¿A Quién?," composed by Luigi Giraldo, and the tropical-inflected "Soy Latina," emerge as the most promising songs. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi| Ven a Ver (1997 Album by Jorge Vazquez) | |
