The Vercors is a plateau in the départements of Isère and Drôme in Eastern France. It is one of the ranges that form the French Prealps. It lies west from the Dauphiné Alps, from which it is separated by the rivers
The highest summits of the Vercors are:
- Grand Veymont (2346 m)
- Grande Moucherolle (2284 m)
- Mont Aiguille (2086 m)
- Moucherotte (1901 m)
The location remained famous for the World War II Maquis du Vercors when French Resistance against the German occupation established the Free Republic of Vercors from June to July 1944.
