Verdicchio di Matelica DOC

[vehr-DEEK-kyoh dee mah-TAY-lee-kah] Another doc that produces wines based on the verdicchio grape. It's located south of the better-known verdicchio dei castelli di jesi doc in central Italy's marches region. The wines of these two DOCs are similar, although some believe that the Matelica wines are more full-bodied (see body). In addition to Verdicchio, the wines can also contain up to 15 percent of malvasia and trebbiano grapes.
