Pertaining to, due to, or abounding in worms or in vermin.

  • v. aneurysm — see verminous mesenteric arteritis (below).
  • v. bronchitis — see lungworm.
  • v. encephalitis — is caused by migration of Strongylus vulgaris or larvae. The effect is one of paralysis due to destruction of nervous tissue. See also brain trauma, neurofilariasis.
  • v. mesenteric arteritis — is caused by migrating Strongylus vulgaris larvae. Defective blood supply to the intestine results and causes intermittent colic, sometimes terminal infarction. See also thromboembolic colic.
  • v. pneumonia — see lungworm.
