vibration platform

Sports Science and Medicine: vibration platform

A training aid consisting of a platform that produces repetitive vibratory waves designed to stimulate the musculoskeletal system and improve strength. Typically, a subject stands on the platform and experiences the vibratory waves, the frequency, duration and amplitude of which can be modified. Although several high-profile sports teams incorporate vibration platforms into their training programmes, scientific evidence of benefits in terms of strength training gains is mixed.
