For those who have begun to feel physically like a donut or cruller, Virgin Active has myriad sportive solutions. The company has about 170 health and fitness clubs in Europe, South Africa, and Australia with more than 900,000 members. About 70 of its clubs are located in the UK, with other European clubs in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Virgin Active clubs feature fitness classes, personal training services, and swimming facilities, as well as health and beauty offerings such as spa treatments and massages. The company is a subsidiary of the Virgin Group.

Virgin Active is a chain of health clubs in South Africa, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Australia and the United Kingdom. Initially UK Company, The Health and Racquet Club, it was at near collapse when it was acquired by Richard Branson's Virgin Group at the personal request of Nelson Mandela. It has subsequently expanded its operations to Italy, Spain, the UK and as of 15th December 2008 - Australia.

On November 1, 2006 it took over the UK-based operation of the more prestigious Holmes Place chain, thus increasing its UK chain of clubs from 24 to 72 overnight.

Recent proposals to expand to Dubai in 2008 and the USA in 2009 have also been announced.
