Biography

The self-taught trombonist Vittor Santos is an important name in big band jazz in Brazil. As sideman, Vittor Santos worked for artists like Ivan Lins, Leny Andrade, Antônio Adolfo, Chico Buarque, Alceu Valença, Moraes Moreira, Carlinhos Vergueiro, Zizi Possi, and Beth Carvalho. In 1985 he formed the Vittor Santos Orquestra, a jazz big band which worked until 1992, having recorded the album Um Toque Tropical. In the next year he formed the In Concert orchestra, another big band. The Vittor Santos Orquestra regrouped in 1998, then performed in 1999 in the Free Jazz Festival. ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
