Vlatko Pavletić
Vlatko Pavletić (2 December 1930 – 19 September 2007) was a Croatian politician.
Pavletić was born in Zagreb in the former Yugoslavia. In 1955, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, where he majored in literature and the Croatian language. He earned a doctorate in 1975.
Pavletić was appointed as the Minister of Education, Culture, Technical Culture and Sports. In 1992, he was elected to the Croatian parliament where he would serve as the chairman of the parliamentary committee for education, science and culture and vice-president of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Pavletić was subsequently elected by his colleagues as speaker of the Croatian parliament in 1995. After President Franjo Tuđman was declared incapacitated on 26 November 1999, he became the acting President of Croatia. He would continue in this role after Tuđman's 10 December 1999 death until the Croatian parliament elected Zlatko Tomčić as the new speaker on 2 February 2000.
In 2004, Pavletić retired from politics. He died on 19 September 2007 in Zagreb, aged 76, from undisclosed causes.
