Vocal Exercises, for two voices (soprano & alto) & continuo ("Sing-Übungen"), D. 619

Review

In summer 1818, Schubert was hired to be the singing teacher for the two daughters of Count Esterhazy, Maria and Caroline. For their education and edification, Schubert composed this Sing-Übungen (Singing Exercise) (D. 619). A series of skillfully written vocalises for two sopranos and figured bass, the Sing-Übungen are charming in their light, major-keyed way, but hardly at the level of great art. ~ James Leonard, All Music Guide
