Greyhound ownership
CSL Equity Investments Inc., 50% owned by Paul Martin's family, sold Voyageur's bus routes to Greyhound Canada in 1998.
The sale of the bus routes did not include the terminals in Ottawa and Montreal, which are still owned by Voyageur Colonial and by CSL. In addition, the Voyageur Colonial brand is used on three Ottawa-Montreal lines: Montreal/Ottawa EXPRESS, Montreal/Ottawa (via Dorion/Hawkesbury) south of the Ottawa River and Montreal/Ottawa (via Lachute/Hawkesbury) north of the Ottawa River.
Typical Bus Layout
The typical bus seats 48 passengers. Windows are usually tinted dark, and the seats are grouped in pairs. The seating units themselves house one average person each, are well cushioned and coloured abstractly but more or less innocuously. A short ride of two hours is usually a decently comfortable ride in seating conditions such as these. There is no food service and bathroom facility is an enclosed area the size of a large closet in an average home. The best time to use the toilet is at the start of a trip when the bathroom is at its cleanest. Longer trips can make for a less desirable bathroom environment due to the probability of higher usage of one unit between cleanings at major bus stations.
