Lebanon's superlative Wadih el-Safi is a "singer's singer," the favorite of many vocalists more commercially successful than he. Arguably, no contemporary singer can equal his command of the quarter-tones of Arabic music, and he is credited with the best male voice in the region. He also has a wide stylistic range, from fairly traditional to highly syncretic pieces. He's a don't-miss artist, an unsung great. ~ John Storm Roberts, Original Music, All Music Guide
