Plot

Popular 1910s actors Gladys Hulette and Creighton Hale take the leads in this pleasant programmer. Multi-millionaire Whitney (J.H. Gilmore) wants his daughter, Marjorie (Hulette), to marry the nephew of a former business partner. Since the guy's name is Elmer Poindexter, he doesn't sound too promising right off; since he's played by big Walter Hiers, it's clear that he's downright unappealing. Marjorie wants nothing to do with Elmer, so her father locks her in her room until she changes her mind. Instead of rethinking her position, she escapes and runs away to New York where her father's detectives trace her to a boarding house. Whitney decides that it's best to leave her there and just send Elmer over in hopes of a romance developing. A romance develops for Marjorie, but not with hefty Elmer -- she meets Fitzjames Powers, a handsome young police reporter (Hale) who saves her from being attacked by a convict. The couple are eventually able to convince Whitney to give the union his blessings, while Powers tracks down a thief who has escaped from Sing Sing. ~ Janiss Garza, All Movie Guide
