Walla Zaman Ya Selahy was the Egyptian national anthem from 1960-1979. It was originally a song performed by Umm Kulthum during the Suez Crisis in 1956. Egypt was united with Syria as the United Arab Republic at the time of its adoption. It replaced Es Salaam el gamhoury el masry which was used as the national anthem of Egypt during the time when it was a kingdom and the early days of the republic; it was also part of the national anthem of the UAR from 1958-1960, together with the National anthem of Syria.
The lyrics were by Salah Jahin, with music by Kamal Al Taweel. The anthem was also used, without words, from 1965-1981 by Iraq. Syria seceded from the UAR in 1961. It was replaced as Egypt's national anthem by Bilady, Bilady, Bilady in 1979.

Translation in English
CHORUS:
- O! For Ages! my weapon!
- How I long to clutch thee!
- Respond, awake and alert,
- For valiant combat.
- Hail, gallant troops,
- Dashing with thunderous roar,
- Swearing never to return
- Except with epoch-making victory.
- Rise and raise a host,
- With loyal hearts ready for sacrifice.
- O! the horror the enemy shall suffer
- Through the fire of your zeal.
- O! glory of our Country,
- Achieved with our own efforts alone,
- By hard hours of toil,
- Never to be wasted or endangered.
- Who shall protect Free Egypt?
- We shall protect it with our lives.
- Land of the Revolution, who will sacrifice for her sake?
- We will, with our lives.
- The people advance like the light,
- The people stand like mountains and seas,
- Angry volcanoes, erupting volcanoes,
- Earthquakes digging graves for the enemy.
