Walter Augustus Abercrombie (born September 26, 1959 in Waco, Texas) is a former professional American football running back and kick returner in the National Football League for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1982 to 1987 and then for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1988. He played college football at Baylor University and was drafted in the first round of the 1982 NFL Draft. His best year was 1986, when he had 214 carries for 877 yards and 47 receptions for 395 yards. His eight total touchdowns that year were one less than his personal best total of nine from the year before.
