Biography

Screenwriter Walter Newman was behind a number of popular films during the '50s and '60s. For his screenplay for the western send-up Cat Ballou (1965) Newman was nominated for an Oscar. In 1978 he and co-writer Frank R. Pierson received a similar honor for Bloodbrothers. Newman got his start writing for radio and broke into films during the early 1950s.
