(fl. 1277–d. 1309)
English mason. He was Master of the Works at Vale Royal Abbey, Delamere, Ches. (1278–90), was in charge of building operations at Caernarfon Castle, Wales, from 1304, and was the principal master-architect employed by the Crown between 1285 and 1309. He designed Grey Friars' Church, Newgate, London (from 1306), and probably influenced the design of St Thomas's, Winchelsea, Sussex, and Holy Trinity, Hull (1295–1300). He may have planned Denbigh Castle, including the gate-house, begun c.1300.
