cool-down

Gradual, controlled reduction of activity after training or competition. Swimmers may swim slowly in a warm-down, while runners may jog and perform flexibility exercises. The warm-down helps the body to eliminate waste products such as lactic acid and to reduce the risk of muscular stiffness.
