Area of land used for keeping and managing large communities of rabbits or hares for exploitation as a source of food and/or fur. Warrens usually include one or more pillow mound in which the animals were kept under controlled conditions. Vermin traps and a warrener's house are also common. Warrens were important economic resources in medieval times in northern Europe.
