Wattisham is a sleepy hamlet near to the town of Stowmarket in Suffolk, England. It is very much a farming community but is also host to a castle, a canine hydrotherapy centre and a large, well-known pheasant shoot run by Rushbrook and Son which attracts many people from across the country.

Religion

There are two churches in Wattisham. The Anglican church commonly found in Suffolk villages is St. Nicholas'. However it is no longer used as a church but is a venue for concerts and other events, ran by the St. Nicholas Trust.

The other, and more well-known, church in the village is Wattisham Strict Baptist Chapel. This church is still very much in use and attracts a large regular congregation.

Wattisham Airfield

The village is perhaps best known for the airbase that aligns itself to the village. Formerly known as RAF Wattisham, it was one of the front-line airbases in the Cold War. The RAF moved out in March 1993 and it is now the largest Army Air Corps airfield in the United Kingdom.

For more detailed information on the airfield see Wattisham Airfield.
