Weak
The term weak has three different meanings in poker.
1. A poor hand that is easily dominated or is statistically likely lose.
2. A passive style of play characterized by rarely raising or calling.
3. A player who is lacking ability or skill and is therefore likely to fold when put under betting pressure.
SoundPoker Says: 1. In Texas Hold'em, hole cards that are an off-suit 2-8 are an example of a weak hand. Even if the hand manages to create a middle pair on the flop, the hand will most likely be dominated by another players larger kicker or pocket pair.
2. It is important not to confuse a player who is weak with a rock. While both personalities have small amounts of betting, a weak player would be taking a chance by raising or calling, whereas a rock would only be raising or calling if they had very strong cards.
3. Skilled players may refer to new or poor players as "weak" because they are easy to intimidate through strong betting.
