Internet footprint

Wikipedia: Internet footprint

An Internet footprint is the impact an individual, business, organization or corporation has on the World Wide Web and, practicably, the traceable residue that it leaves behind through this interaction.

Internet footprints are starting to be used to supplement interviews by some “to research potential employees by examining what they find on the Internet.”

It also aids Law Enforcement by enabling them to get information that would be unavailable otherwise due to a lack of probable cause. More recently, with the increasing amount of data being stored on the internet it is possible to find information on someone using their Cyber Shadow/Digital Shadow.
