Antarctic gyres

Wikipedia: Antarctic gyres
Both gyres can be seen as light blue in this diagram

Two clockwise Antarctic gyres swirl within the southern ocean. They are known as the Weddell and Ross Gyres, as they reside in the Weddell Sea and the Ross Sea, respectively. There share many similar traits, both being clockwise currents formed by interactions between the cold Antarctic Circumpolar Current and the Antarctic continental shelf.
