Game Description

This Super Famicom title is based on the Japanese Wedding Peach anime television show and "original video anime" releases. Along the lines of the popular Sailor Moon series, Wedding Peach is a high school girl who can unleash her special "Ai Tenshi" ("Love Angel") powers when the situation calls for them. In every-day life, the heroine is known as Momoko. She has two friends, Yuri and Hinagiku, and it seems that all three girls have a crush on the cute soccer team captain, Yanagiba-sempai. When the naughty little demons Pluie or Jamapi come around causing trouble, Momoko's friends transform into Angel Lily and Angel Daisy to join her as Wedding Peach, using their "love wave" powers in the fight against the mischievous little creatures and the trouble they cause.

This cartridge contains a variety of mini-games, many of which are based on old-fashioned arcade machines. There is a version of "Whack-a-Mole," in which the player's character attempts to bop a little Jamapi head as it pops up from various holes. There's also a "Toy Crane" game, in which the character is rewarded with points depending on the prize she can grab with a dropping metal claw. The games also include a slot machine, a shooting gallery, and even a fishing challenge, each of which may be played individually in the cartridge's "mini-game" mode. When ready for the real competition, the player enters the "story mode" to take on the role of one of the three Love Angels - Angel Lily, Angel Daisy, or Wedding Peach herself. Here, the chosen heroine will compete in all of the mini-game challenges, attempting to collect more heart points than the rest of the girls to win the affections of a handsome boy.

Wedding Peach (愛天使伝説ウェディング・ピーチ Ai Tenshi Densetsu Wedingu Pīchi?, literally "Legend of the Angel of Love: Wedding Peach") is a shōjo manga by Nao Yazawa and Sukehiro Tomita that was originally serialized in Shogakukan's Ciao magazine. In North America it is translated and published by VIZ Media in its entirety, comprising six volumes.[1]

The manga later was adapted into an anime television series that was directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and ran for 51 episodes on TV Tokyo from April 5, 1995 to March 27, 1996 [2] as well as 2 omakes : Ai Tenshi Robot: Wedding Peach and Ai Tenshi Sentai and spawned a 4-episode OVA sequel (Wedding Peach DX) in 1996. [3]

The anime (which is co-produced by KSS, TV Tokyo and NAS) is licensed for distribution in North America by ADV Films, and they have released both the TV series and OVA series onto a total of ten DVD volumes.

In 2004, Wedding Peach: Young Love was released, a compilation of Wedding Peach stories made specifically for the monthly magazine Shogaku Sannensei ("Elementary School Third-grader").[4] To better fit the magazine's target audience, the "Young Love" version of Wedding Peach features younger-looking characters, less complex storylines, and simpler dialogue.

Series overview

The story follows Momoko Hanasaki, a junior high school girl who is in trouble between the Angel World and the Devil World. It all starts when Aphrodite tells Momoko that she is the legendary Love Angel Wedding Peach, and that she will take the place of her mother, Sakura, in finding and protecting the "Saint Something Four", after a devil named Pluie tries to steal Momoko's mother's ring. Now she must protect the sanctity of love from Raindevila and her minions.

Her friends, the other Love Angels, are Yuri Tanima (Angel Lily) and Hinagiku Tamano (Angel Daisy). She also has Jama-P, who originally was a minion of Raindevila. Momoko is in love with Yosuke who is, unknowingly, a half-devil warrior of the Rafaal tribe in the Devil World named Viento; Yosuke's father, coincidentally, is the one who sent Celeste (Sakura) and himself to Earth in the first place. Yuri is in love with Captain Yanagiba of the soccer team, otherwise known as the angel Limone.

While trying to live the lives of normal Japanese middle school students, the Love Angels must protect the world with love, or live in a world filled with nothing but hate.

Angel Salvia

  • Saint Pure Sword
Salvia's primary weapon is a thin rapier which the angel brandishes with pride. This item can be used to channel love waves (and send them out in "attacks") or simply as a normal sword. The Saint Pure Sword is vital to the execution of Salvia's TV and manga attacks. It is worth noting that Salvia is the only love angel without a transformation item (like Peach's Saint Miror, Lily's Saint Lipliner or Daisy's Saint Pendule). While never openly declared, this probably owes to the fact that she is a pure love angel and doesn't need a device to channel love waves in order to undergo a full transformation.
  • New Tiara-Saint Something New
One of the four Sacred Something items, the Saint Something New is an elaborate tiara that rests of Salvia's forehead. In the manga she came to possess it after borrowing it from her mother to use in a school play. The final Saint Something to appear, Salvia's love waves and tiara finally unlocked the key to using the Saint Something Four in battle.
  • Saint Twin Sword (OVA)
In Wedding Peach DX the Saint Pure Sword is replaced by the Saint Twin Swords, curved dual blades which vaguely resemble Salvia's original weapon. Each has a tapered handle with a blue jewel at the tip and can change length at their owner's will. When summoned, these weapons materialise from Salvia's hips.

Angel Potamos

  • An unnamed P shaped transformation device

Games

A Super Famicom game was released only in Japan in 1995. In the game, the player plays as one of the three main girls (either Momoko, Yuri or Hinagiku) to compete with each other in a series of mini games. The ultimate goal is to win the competition over the other two girls so that the player who won the competition can ask the guy that all three girls are in love with (Yanagiba) to the school dance. The game has a three player option as well, where two other people can play the other two girls that you did not pick.

Wedding Peach games have also been released for the Game Boy (Jama-P Panic! - 1995) and Playstation (Wedding Peach: Doki Doki Oiro-naoshi Fashion Dai-sakusen - 1996).
