| Winnie and Friends |
Who wrote "Return to Pooh Corner"? In 1924, A.A. Milne published a book of children's poems called When We Were Very Young. Included in the book was a poem about a teddy bear who "however hard he tries, grows tubby without exercise." Later, on this date in 1926, Milne released another book — called Winnie the Pooh — this time starring the bear as his main character. The stories about the silly but lovable bear and his menagerie of friends were an instant hit. Milne wrote magazine essays, novels, plays and poems, but it was his four books about Pooh that won him generations of fans and that continued to inspire new artists. When Kenny Loggins was a senior in high school, he was supposed to be studying for finals, but instead closeted himself in his parents' room and wrote "Return to Pooh Corner," kicking off a successful songwriting career. And earlier this month, author David Benedictus released the first authorized sequel to Winnie the Pooh, Return to the Hundred Acre Wood.
"I've finally come back To the House at Pooh Corner by one/What do you know There's so much to be done... Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh."
