Biography

German composer Werner Richard Heymann scored many Hollywood films during the '30s and '40s. He got his start working in the Vienna and Berlin philharmonic symphonies and in the Max Reinhardt theater before becoming the assistant to the musical director of the German film production company UFA. Before coming to the U.S. in 1933, Heymann had been appointed musical director of the company. He remained in Hollywood through the early 1950s.
