The West Herzegovina Canton or West Herzegovina County is one of the 10 cantons of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Geography and population
It is located in the south of the country. It has a total area of 1,362 km2 and 81,523 inhabitants. The center of canton government is Široki Brijeg.
The citizens of the county are mostly Roman Catholic Croats as they used to be prior the war. Prior to the war, there was a significant Bosniak minority in Ljubuški. are The only two mosques in the county located in Ljubuški. The other religious buildings in the county are exclusively Roman Catholic churches.
The canton is divided into the municipalities of Grude, Široki Brijeg, Ljubuški and Posušje. The vast majority of Muslims by nationality today consider themselves Bosniaks.
According to the 1991 census the population of the municipalities was

Economy
This region, as well as entire West Herzegovina, has been prior the war one of the most poor regions in BiH. However, today is one of the richests.[1] The most successful branches of economy here is trading.

According to local laws [2] the official holidays(non-working days ) in the county are :
- January 1st-New Year
- January 6th- Holy Three Kings
- May 1st -Labour day
- May 30- Pan-croatian statehood day
- August 15th-Virgin Mary holiday
- November 1st- All saints day
- November 2nd- the dead people day
- November 18th-the foundation of Herzeg Bosnia
- December 25th and 26th -Christmas holidays
Symbols
The flag and coat of arms of the canton are same as flag and coat of arms of the former Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia. Canton 10, another canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also usee this flag and coat of arms as official one delcared in constituition[3].That coat of arms is used on the badges of local police department and plates of the local instituitions. The flag is used all over the county.
