1898David Harum, a Story of American Life. Published posthumously, Westcott's only novel is about an upstate New York banker given to homely sayings. Westcott himself was a successful Syracuse, New York, banker. Its immediate popular success prompts a 1900 stage version and a film adaptation starring Will Rogers.
