Wikipedia:

Westerne

The Westerne were an Anglo-Saxon tribe who inhabited modern day Cheshire. They have mostly been forgotten in the history books. Little is known about them, but they may have been descended from the Angles or the Frisians as they appear to be quite different from the neighbouring tribes. Their culture was similar to that of the pecsaetan which neighboured the tribe to the east.

The tribe formed part of the Kingdom of Mercia.
