Westgate is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated in Weardale between St John's Chapel and Eastgate. Westgate is also the entrance to Slitt wood and an old abandoned lead mine. The Hare and Hounds, owned by Colin Stubbs and Alsion Wilson, provides the local population with a friendly pub and good food. Other features of the village include a caravan site and a football and basketball court.
