Nectar is a sweet liquid made in special glands called nectaries in flowering plants. Located deep within a flower, at the base of its petals, nectar is an important part of the diets of many insects and animals. The most important gatherers of nectar are honey bees, which bring it back to their hives to make delicious honey.
