"What My Heart Wants to Say" is a song written by Jorgen Elofsson, Per Magnusson and David Kreuger and produced by Magnusson and Kreuger for Gareth Gates's debut album What My Heart Wants to Say. It was released as a single on 9 December 2002 and reached a peak position of number five on the UK Singles Chart [1] as well as reaching the top ten in several other countries.

The single was the first to fail to reach the top spot in the UK, after "Unchained Melody", "Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake)" and the double-A Side with Will Young, "The Long and Winding Road"/"Suspicious Minds" had all peaked at number one earlier in the year. It was, however, certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry.
