The week of September 17, 1910, saw three Essanay releases, one after the other in rapid succession. The title refers to a popular card game of the period, similar to Bridge. While holding a whist party at his home, a tenement-dwelling gentleman is disturbed by his musician neighbors. So as not to annoy his guests, he hands out cigars to the noisy neighbors, hoping that they'll shut up out of gratitude. The band's Scottish bagpipe player refuses to cooperate until he's handed a bottle of whiskey. The whist game continues unimpeded until the very end, when the musicians suddenly "invade" the party and bust up the joint. It turns out that the music makers had partaken a bit too much whiskey. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
