Computer Desktop Encyclopedia: White Spaces Coalition

An alliance that is lobbying for unlicensed use of the protection bands between TV channels when U.S. broadcasters convert to digital in 2009. Composed of Microsoft, Google, Dell, HP, Intel, Philips, Earthlink and Samsung, ongoing tests are expected to determine if unlicensed devices can transmit in these bands without interfering with TV broadcasts, wireless microphones and other devices that use the spectrum. See white space.
