Plot
Directed by Paul McGuigan, Wicker Park follows Chicago businessman Matthew's (Josh Hartnett) return to Windy City life after having dedicated two years of his life to mourning his long lost love Lisa (Diane Kruger), who'd mysteriously vanished from his life. Things are finally looking up again for Matthew; his career is in full swing, and he's thinking of becoming engaged -- that is, until he thinks he's spotted his former lover in a restaurant. Almost immediately, Matthew puts the brakes on his marriage plans and his career in order to conduct an exhaustive search for his old flame. Obsessed, he barely notices the psychologically devastating trap his quest is leading him into -- a danger that only grows when he meets an enigmatic stranger (Rose Byrne). Wicker Park features Matthew Lillard and Jessica Paré in supporting roles. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide
Produced by Keith Cleversley (Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips), Sparkler's debut album Wicker Park is an engaging amalgam of swirling guitars and sunny melodies. While the songs aren't always cohesive, Sparkler has a charming, appealing sound that falls halfway between the Lips and Mercury Rev, which means that Wicker Park is a worthwhile listen, even with its faults. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Moving back and forth in time and revealing the story from each character's perspective, Wicker Park is a psychological drama about a man named Matt (Josh Hartnett) who is caught in an obsessive search for Lisa (Diane Kruger), a woman with whom he had fallen deeply in love who had then vanished without a trace. Two years after her disappearance, Matt catches a fleeting glimpse of Lisa in a local bar and begins a twisting search to find her and discover what really happened.
Protagonist Matt is at first a man obsessed, following Lisa and entering both her apartment and hotel room. He meets Alex (Rose Byrne), the current occupant of Lisa's apartment, and as details of Matt and Lisa's former relationship are revealed through a series of dreams and flashbacks, the twisted plot that separated them begins to reveal itself and unravel.
