Biography

A collection of instruments that included violins made by Stradivari and played by Corelli and Torelli were owned by this English composer and violinist. Corbett's musical pieces included the noted cantata "Lost is my Love" and an instrumental repertoire comprised primarily of sonatas. Characteristics of Corbett's music iincluded melodic lines with possible lilting lyric qualities -- particularly in faster movements -- while the slower adagios demonstrated the sonority, orchestral effect and harmony at his disposal. ~ Keith Johnson, All Music Guide
