William Darke (1736–November 20, 1801) was an American army officer who served in the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War.

Born in Pennsylvania, General Darke moved to Shepherdstown, Virginia at age five. He was with General Edward Braddock's army in 1755. In the Revolution, Darke was taken prisoner at Germantown, Pennsylvania and later laid siege to York, Pennsylvania. After the war he served in the Virginia Convention in 1788 and subsequently served in the Virginia legsilature. Darke distinguished himself in commanding troops when General Arthur St. Clair was defeated by the Indians in 1790, the battle in which Richard Butler was killed.

Darke County, Ohio is named for him.
