William Lipscomb (July 20, 1829–1908) was a leading figure of the American Restoration Movement.
Lipscomb was born in Franklin County, Tennessee and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee.
With Tolbert Fanning, Lipscomb founded the Gospel Advocate, a widely-read periodical within the movement, in 1855. His younger brother, David Lipscomb, later assumed the editorship and built it into the most influential publication within the Church of Christ.[citation needed]
