William O'Brien

O'Brien, William (?1736-1815), actor-dramatist. Closely related to the O'Brien Earls of Thomond and Inchiquin, he appeared as Captain Brazen in Farquhar's The Recruiting Officer in 1758 and acted for some years. He wrote a farce, Cross Purposes (1772), and a comedy, The Duel (1772), both based on French models.
