Willie Martinez (born February 21, 1963)[1] is the former defensive coordinator and secondary coach of the Georgia Bulldogs football team. Martinez was the defensive secondary coach at Georgia from 2001 to 2005. Martinez was promoted to defensive coordinator before the 2005 season. Martinez, as well as defensive co-coordinator and linebacker coach John Jancek and defensive ends coach Jon Fabris, were informed on December 2, 2009 that they were not being retained for the 2010 season.
On December 2, 2009, Martinez was fired from his position as defensive coordinator with UGA. This was following a 7-5 season by the Bulldogs, which was marred by inconsistent and substandard defensive play.[2]
