Wil·ming·ton (wĭl'mĭng-tən)

A city of southeast North Carolina on the Cape Fear River south-southeast of Raleigh. Settled c. 1730, it was used as a port by blockade runners during the Civil War and is now a manufacturing and resort center and the state's largest port. Population: 95,900.
