Prickly is aiming for the Velvet Underground, á la "Beginning to See the Light" and "I'll Be Your Mirror." The simple guitar rhythms and lo-fi AM production contribute to give Prickly a classic underground sound. This is most evident on the two-sing A side ("Funny Coleslaw," "Bicycle Thief"). Flipping over to "CBT," we hear the female vocalist (no credits on this album) stretch out more in the way of a song stylist, but retaining a reserved if still mellifluous and mellow tone. The guitars rise in dissonance and distortion to stay with her. ~ Tom Schulte, All Music Guide
