windmills

Food and Fitness: windmills

A stretching exercise often used as part of a warm-up routine.▪ Stand upright with arms extended. Circle your arms backwards alternately, making sure that you bring your upper arm close to your ear. Repeat the exercise, but this time circling both arms together. Start with about 20 circles in each direction and build up to about 40.As with all stretching, windmills should be performed slowly. Windmills are often used as rehabilitation exercises for tennis players who have had a shoulder injury. The windmills are performed very slowly, first without a tennis racket and then with a tennis racket. When using a tennis racket, it is a good idea to hold a racket in each hand to ensure balanced muscle development.
