Plot

Lagging in the polls, gubernatorial candidate Peter Allatore (Chazz Palmintieri) decides to use an anti-mob campaign as his ticket to Albany. Allatore announces he has discovered that the exiled Don Aiuppo (George O. Petrie) is still running his New York gang through his son-in-law Vinnie (Ken Wahl). OCB boss McPike (Jonathan Banks) tries to ward off Allatore by revealing to him that Vinnie is actually a federal agent, working undercover against the mob, but Allatore refuses to turn off the heat. This places McPike in the position of coming up with another "hot potato" issue for Allatore to pursue--even if that issue has to be fabricated out of thin air. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
