Plot

The ample but well-covered attractions of (Anat Topol-Barzilai) are frequently on display in this supernatural thriller that borrows heavily from Rosemary's Baby and a number of lesser horror films. She plays a new mother who moves into her in-law's bizarre, ancient mansion. It gradually becomes clear to Grace that her husband John (Gary Sloan) and mother-in-law Elizabeth (Mary Shelly) are reincarnated witches, who plan to use her newborn in their Satanic rituals. Her increasingly powerful psychic gifts give her visions which enable her to see that the two of them were burned at the stake for their misdeeds in previous lives. In one notable scene, the pair attempt to serve her up as a human sacrifice. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Plot

As Grace Churchill is having her baby, disturbing visions flash in her mind that show two witches being burned at the stake. It is later learned that these two people are John and Elizabeth Stockwell, who were burned in the year 1687. The visions seem to stop once her baby, who she names William, is born. Things get worse when she, her husband, and the baby temporarily move into her mother-in-law’s creepy old house. It’s here that the visions start returning, and all sorts of spooky events start happening around her, including a priest hanging himself in their backyard.

Film notes

The William character would be the series’ central recurring character, while Grace would be portrayed as having died, with William visiting her grave in one of the later sequels.

After the first film, which had a horror atmosphere, the series shifted gears and is now regarded as a softcore pornographic film series with some horror elements.
