Biography

Interestingly Bargiel's mother was also the mother of Clara Wieck (Schumann) which explains the demonstrated influence of Schumann in his compositions. He studied counterpoint with Denn having learned the piano, organ and violin from his parents; his teachers at the University included Moscheles, Hauptmann, Rietz and Gade. Bargiel editored works of Schumann, Chopin and Bach chorales.
