Biography

Washington D.C.'s Wooly Mammoth was formed in the year 2000 by vocalist/guitarist Zac Eller (formerly of hardcore act Bluetip), who together with lead guitarist Jason Stevens, bassist Aaron Claxton and drummer Phil Adler, fell into step with the region's rich tradition for underground doom and stoner metal. Local live shows soon drew the attention of Virginia-based Underdogma Records, which released the band's four-song Ten Ton Baby EP in 2001, and shipped the band out on the road nationwide, culminating in a performance at the 2002 Emissions of the Monolith Festival. Stevens' subsequent departure was taken in stride, as Wooly Mammoth simply chose to continue as a three-piece, and after befriending local engineer and Hidden Hand bassist Bruce Falkinburg, the trio (newly altered by the arrival of bassist Kyle Connoly) recorded two songs for inclusion on a split EP with Hidden Hand named Night Letters -- released in 2004 by Meteor City. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide

Biography

Wooly Mammoth was formed in October 2000 and released their first EP, Ten Ton Baby in 2002. The band recorded two songs for their 2004 split release with The Hidden Hand and appearance at the Emissions from the Monolith festival.[1] They recorded their debut full length album, The Temporary Nature, in 2005 which was produced by The Hidden Hand bassist Bruce Falkinburg. Hidden Hand guitarist Scott "Wino" Weinrich is featured on the track "Mammoth Bones."

In 2007 bassist Kyle Connolly left the band and was replaced by Jason Daniloski, formerly of Meatjack [2]. The new lineup brought a heavier, more stripped down approach to the music. In 2008, the band parted ways with long-time drummer Phil Adler. Currently, the band is working with Eric Dixon, also formerly of Meatjack. They are working on new material for an album.
