Review

Though Master P. gets the executive producer credit on Mac's World War III, there are only three guest spots for major No Limit names (one each for Master P., Mia X, C-Murder) on the album, and there are few productions by the label's in-house team, Beats by the Pound. Mac even produces a few tracks here, and though the sound is quite close to No Limit's trademark style, there's an undeniable impression that this is more his joint than the usual No Limit album. The leadoff track "War Party" is typical in-your-face hardcore, with guests Magic and D.I.G. contributing raps as well, but "Like Before" is a comparatively tender love song, one of the most touching tracks ever released on a No Limit LP. It's not quite up to the consistent level of No Limit's major releases, World War III earns points for Mac's attempts to stretch out gangsta rap. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
